Yak Hair existence in high altitude of Badahshan region allows to the artisans to make felt as one of the main material. There are different techniques of creating felt products. Sometimes patterns are rolls in during felting or it sews in mosaic way from single parts, or overlays on a basic field as an application then embroiders and quilts with contrast cord. The main decorative element of these kinds of crafts is sheep’s horn that has several meanings. In Pamirs and other adjacent regions almost everybody deals with producing coarse carpets of very warm felting (namat). To produce this kind of carpet sheep wool is used. This Namats were made of big sizes (5x4m). The wool usually colors with different colors, but mostly felt keeps its natural black and white color. Usually the yak hair spins by men in order to make rope. The process of making felt products is handmade and very laborious.
